I have just adopted a male gerbil that was born with no back feet. He has stubs for legs and gets around quite well except for climbing. I know gerbils are better in pairs, but what about this little guy, would he be better off alone?

HI - there's no reason as to why he cant successfully be introduced to another gerbil I have a gerbil who has missing front and hindpaws and succesfully introduced him to two younger pups. Providing you are careful and do it via the proper split cage i'm sure he would really appreciate it.

His name is Stubby and I just got him a friend named Stanley. I am doing the split cage method, even thought they were litter mates. One more question - should I take out their little houses so they start to sleep next to each other instead of the houses? Not sure what to do...

Yes, do take out everything except their water bottles. Just plain bedding as long as they're in the split, for best results.
