I had someone asking me today how to clip her gerbils' teeth. They've gotten pretty old, and they aren't wanting to chew much anymore. I've never had to clip any of mine, so I thought I'd ask you guys. Is it actually worth/safe clipping their teeth, or should they be brought to the vet? What kind of clippers should you use? How long should they be? And how do you do it?
Thanks.

They need to be taken to the vet. Some gerbils find the experience traumatizing, and may wiggle, causing the person doing the clipping to split the teeth, or slip and injure them. A vet can calm them down.
