It probably depends on the plastic, but why risk it? Some plastic is chew-proof (like some of the wheels), but most plastic isn't. Plus I worry about the dyes used to make the plastic.

My earlier Gerbal earlier today had what i think was a stroke he had sort of involuntary jerks and then fell flat on her back, we thought she has died as it appered she wasent breathing, then she started twitching her leg and now she is the right way up but all day has had her eyes closed she is very cold and cant seem to eat by herself, she is very week and was wondering if i should take her to the vet and/or just try to get her to eat...im really worried about her and her sister is living in the cage aswell and i have been told she may die is the other one does because they cant live alone is this true??

Usually you get quicker replies if you start a new thread I would try to get your gerbil nice and warm, whether with a heating pad, lamp, hot water bottle, whatever on one end of the tank. You can give water by syringe as well as mushed up baby food or anything you can get her to eat. How old are your gerbils? Many gerbils do just fine living on their own. It's a very individual thing, just as with people. Some people are hermits, some get depressed living alone, You just never know.

Plastic should not be used as a gerbil house - they will chew it and it is not good for them. Seeing something in a pet shop does not mean it is right unfortunatly.
