Here's mine. I've got a little alcove that I board off with a large bit of wood, It's about 50cm high. - I can still sit outside it and reach over and interact with them. They can actually jump out of this so I have to watch them. I've covered the floor with cardboard so they can't chew they carpet, or soil it. The play area contains: Lots of big, chunky poster tubes Eggbox style packaging 'castles' to hide in (I hide sunflower seeds and other treats in these). Sand bath in Cadbury's heroes tin - perfect depth that sand doesn't get srayed everywhere! Lots of space to run around.

These are really groovy. I love the ideas. would two lots of gerbils be able to use the same playground (at different times)? or would they not like the scent of the other gerbils? I've read somewhere about having a different ball and wheel etc for the different set of gerbils..... Great ideas now for getting Bethany to keep a part of her bedroom tidy!!

if the gerbils are together then yes let them play together. if from different clan then i have not got a cklue, sorry. But with these play areas all you need is imagination and loads of cardboard/wood bits and they will have a 'gerbil universal studios'!

Wow nice play area Amski!!! Also can't wait to see more pics of yours Eszter.
I don't have any pictures of mine yet, it's just a plastic tub with some cardboard in it, but I had an idea. If you don't have an open space to fence off you could get several large cardboard boxes, cut holes in the sides, and connect them with cardboard tubes (or PVC if your gerbil chews the cardboard too quickly). I might build something like this and post pictures if I do. I'd love to hear and build other's concepts.

Thanks for all the compliments! The gerbils approve so that's the main thing!
Dontya: I have 4 boys, there's a camera shy black one who was hiding when I took the pics. All the stuff in there came from Amazon, except the sand dune thing which I made (following instructions I found on this forum).
Peter: I had something similar with my last lot of gerbils, I bought loads of plastic tubes (RotaStak and the like) really cheaply second hand and just joined up lots of cardboard boxes with them. They will chew the cardboard and escape, but not too often as they are usually too busy exploring. That was before I lived where I do now, so I didn't have the nice space available for them.

Amski - WOW! Seriously WOW! That is an AMAZING play area! WOW! I don't blame you for double fencing, you are very well thought ahead! Bettysmum - Yes you can let them use the same play stuff, just if you have a 'play area' give it a clean up and a mop so there aren't any poo's or pee's about making smells . Just to state aswell, DO NOT put both clans in together! EVER! Make sure they go in at TOTALLY seperate times! x
