I've found a place that sell them, but they are kinda pricey. I am surprised no UK gerbil website out there has linked them. They seem to be sold mainly for degus and chins, but could certianly be used for gerbils. The cage has wooden flooring as well so that is tempting me if I plan to get jirds. What does everyone think, are they worth it? www.johnhopewell.co.uk/default.asp?template=productlist.page.xml&CategoryId=11

Hi ya, although they seem to be very well made from the pics, I personally would not pay out for something like that. I would buy the material myself and have a go- even if it fails a few times I think it would still be profitable to make your own. Also I would give you something to do for a couple of nights- would be faster that waiting for him to build it- it says he makes them to order. good luck with it.

As you asked what we think here we go... I have never had toppers and probably won't in the future. I give my gerbils deeeeeeeep bedding and that is the best in my opinion for them, more back to nature

I agree, that is what the tank is for, I put in several inches of aspen in there. I am buying a tank topper for jirds, as they need more space, and i can't fit a 6 foot long tank anywhere!
Its pricey but i can't find anything in the UK, and tbh i have looked into making my own and it will never be as good as this one
