They are adorable Blocketh! Seymour has got to be my favorite ^^ I had a dream last night about buying a spotted gerbil. Your pictures are getting me all hopeful about the potential Flint and Juliet litter.

Well, it's been over a month since I last updated! Wow! How time flies! I hope you all had a wonderful Thanksgiving/Christmas/New Years We here at Lone Star sure did! I've been so busy with all my little gerbils and the holidays, I haven't had time to update! Penelope's 2nd litter have all been weaned for several weeks now and all but two have gone to their forever homes, to very loving people. The other two, Seymour and Otis, are going home tomorrow! I'm gonna miss the little rascals, but I'm excited for them and their new owners. Frijoles and Koa are also going to a new home this week. I decided it would be in their best interest to let them go to someone else. To keep them would be simply too many gerbils and of course once I bred Sebastian and Penelope again, I wouldn't be able to introduce Sebastian to both of them, and to only re-home one of them wouldn't be very nice. So, I promised them to a very responsible and caring 1st grade teacher, and I know they will make the best class pets ever! As of today, Sebastian and Penelope are back in the split cage, and are doing wonderful. They're very calm about each other, sleeping next to the divider, and my little brother caught them grooming through the bars earlier. Can't wait for the 2012 litters!! Up until today, Penelope has been housed with Anastasia from litter #1. Anastasia is the most absolute darling gerbil I've ever owned, and really reminds me of her mother. Her and her mom will be put back together permanently after Penelope and Sebastian do their thing and all the 2012 babies are weaned, trained, and sold. Until then, she is getting extra TLC and cardboard tubes. Nehemiah is also splendid, and enjoying being a fat old man. Penelope did a great job raising this last litter with Anastasia, and I know she has thoroughly enjoyed her break from raising young'uns. She has WAY mellowed out after becoming a mother, and is as sweet and gentle as a butterfly. Sebastian and his two boys (Frijoles and Koa) have been a joy to watch. They all three got along wonderful and complimented each other beautifully. It's sad having to separate them, but I know it's for their own good. :') They probably wouldn't be happy as a trio once the boys mature, anyhow... I'll try to get some pictures up soon, and continue to update you guys as P&S are re-introduced. Toodles for now!

Good news! The love birds are back together as of today and happier than ever. We had a slight delay due to Penelope's false alarm (thought she was sick, she wasn't), so that was quite a set back. Once I put them back together again in the split, it didn't take long before they were able to remember each other, and within a day or two they were acting as if Sebastian had never had to leave the split for a couple days. I would have put them back together sooner, but I've been so busy this week, this was the first day I had time to watch them... So, I took out the divider today and they got along just wonderfully with not one dicey interaction! The first thing Penelope did when I took out the split was mosey on over to her lover and lay down to be groomed. Within just a few minutes they were snuggled up together sleeping. I never knew introducing two adult gerbils would be so easy! I'm just hoping her and little Ana can be re-introduced with that ease when Penelope is done raising pups again... We shall see. That's all for now! I've included a few pics, enjoy! Frijoles.. I miss the little guy. (I adopted him & Koa out) My lil Koa. Miss this boy, too.. He was such a big baby! My precious, precious Anastasia! I love this little girly so much! She's my right hand gerbil around here. Sweet, sweet, Penelope.. Aaaaaaaand, a few pics of the lovebirds! I'm hoping eventually I'll get around to share some pics I took of the last litter when they were about 5 weeks old.. They're darling pics! I just need to find time! haha

Thanks for all the sweet words, everyone!! Both are still doing great, but I have not yet noticed Penelope coming into season... It's been almost a week since I put them back together, but still nothing. Sebastian might chase her a bit, but they never do actually mate, and it usually just ends in grooming. :/ The last time I noticed Penelope in season was a few weeks ago when they were first in their split. Penelope was going NUTS and running all over the cage lifting her rear. If you barely touched her she'd lift her rear, and she kept running over to the divider and lifting her rear in front of Sebastian. Then, a couple days later, Penelope was sick (or so I thought.) Sebastian was in another room for a week, then I put them back together, and she hasn't acted that way since a couple days before she got "sick".. She does seem to be gaining weight recently though, even my little brother noticed it. He was surprised when I told him that she wasn't pregnant. I mean, there's no way she could have gotten pregnant through a divider, right? haha maybe her "sickness" that seemed to be fake really wasn't and it made her infertile? Maybe she's just being picky? Heaven knows... If you want to know more about her "sickness" you can find a link on my profile, it's one of the last things I posted on. But anyways, I'm just kinda confused as to what's going on though. Not concerned really though, I know you can't rush these things, and that gerbils will be gerbils and take their time.

Though... I AM wondering, that if maybe Penelope doesn't plan on getting pregnant any time soon, then maybe I should find a mate for little Anastasia instead? Hmm.

That's what I thought it might be.. but sure enough, right when I start to get concerned, they decided to do their round-and-rounds around the cage. I'm thinking gerbil pups probably on the 26th/27th.
