I know this has probably been asked a hundred times and I've read through some of the threads, but I'm still not sure if my girl Fiona is Siamese or Burmese. I can't tell by her nails either because she has both light and dark nails. Her 2 center nails are dark while the others are light. www.Flickr.com/photos/wildlifephotos00/13233272764Also, if you have Vine, my girls have their own account called SouthernGerbs where you can see all their antics up close.

I'm not really the best with colors, but I believe she's burmese. This is just because she's darker and a bit more brownish rather than gray.
Another way to tell is by her eye color. Have her eyes ever had a reddish tint to them that you've noticed? Siamese gerbils will usually have this in certain lighting, while burmese don't. From the photo her eyes look like the color of a burmese, but then again it's just one picture.
Like I said I'm not the best with colors so it's probably best that someone more experienced come in and help.

I was originally thinking Burmese too but then when I did a Google search and saw pictures of various Burmese, some of them were just so dark brown, I thought there's no way. Her fur was such a pretty champagne color when I got her as a baby, but it has darkened up as she's gotten older. She will be a year old at the end of May.

When I first saw the image she looked just like my Lola when she was younger - a Light CP Slate. She was given to me way back by a breeder as a Burmese. It does look like yours has a slightly darker nose and ears though - so do you have any full body images - I didn't see any on the link. That way we can see the contrast between her points and her body better.
Cute pictures....

I was posting using my Kindle Fire so I only have a few pics of her on this device.

Here's another picture I found. www.flickr.com/photos/wildlifephotos00/13244613645/ Most of my pictures of the girls are on my external drive. I thought I had some on my computer, but mostly I have Vines of them rather than still shots. This picture is of Fiona when she was a little younger as you can tell, but you can see her points. I'll still try to get a picture of her full body when she wakes up.

Hmm, she looks more Burmese in that one with her really dark tail and nose - but she looks like she has light toenails?
It's so difficult sometimes with the images and the light in the room.... Can't wait to see the others to compare.

Looks like a siamese. The easiest time to tell with siamese and burmese is when they're pups, so she has to be siamese if she was champagne when young. Burmese pups are really dark.

Can't wait to see the others to compare. Yes, her nails are light. You're right, the lighting in the room doesn't show her very well at all. Do Burmese normally have dark nails?

Hmm, that's interesting. I did not know that. I'm very new to the gerbil world and these are my first two gerbs ever. I've had them almost a year now. They are sisters from the same litter but really look nothing alike. Fiona, the one I'm questioning about whether she's Siamese or Burmese, is bigger than her sister Marcy. But that might be because she is very food motivated. She was definitely a lot lighter when she was a baby. I got them at about 8 weeks of age and that was one thing I thought was so pretty about her.....her champagne colored fur. It was such a pretty color. She's still pretty now, but her fur has darkened up some. And both my girls have nice, shiny fur. Here's a couple of pics today- She was NOT being cooperative at all! Every time she saw me with my phone, she ducked into a tunnel, so I couldn't get any really good ones. www.flickr.com/photos/wildlifephotos00/13254424273/ www.flickr.com/photos/wildlifephotos00/13254425213/Here's one I managed to get of her when she fell asleep in the little tank while I was cleaning out the big tank. I rarely get to see them sleep since they sleep in their birdhouse, so it was treat for me to see her like this. So sweet. www.flickr.com/photos/wildlifephotos00/13244949264/And of course, I can't just talk about Fiona without showing how cute her sister Marcy is too! www.flickr.com/photos/wildlifephotos00/13237319734/

She looks Burmese to me, but being "champagne" as a pup indicates Siamese. Maybe just a particularly dark Siamese. Another way to tell is by her eye color. Have her eyes ever had a reddish tint to them that you've noticed? Siamese gerbils will usually have this in certain lighting, while burmese don't. From the photo her eyes look like the color of a burmese, but then again it's just one picture. All Colorpoint (and Dilute and Underwhite-dense (gg)) gerbils have that red glow in bright light and camera flash. It's just slightly more noticeable on Light Colorpoints like Siamese. This is a Sp. Burmese pup with the lighting just right:

Thanks! I'll see if I can find some of her baby pictures and post tomorrow. Maybe that will help clear up the mystery.

She looks like a siamese to me. Most Burmese I have seen are darker. I also thought burmese is a similar intensity as a CP slate. My CP slate is a lot darker (like milk chocolate) rather than this light.

I knew I had these somewhere... This is a young Burmese: Compare to two young Siamese molting into their adult coats: MoonstoneGerbils has better comparison pictures, but Siamese is the lightest, Burmese and LCP Slate are similar in color, and CP Slate is much darker. This is a Burmese and an LCP Slate:

I found a couple of her baby pictures from when I first got her. (8 weeks old) I was also mistaken on her birthday! I thought I got her at the end of May, but the date on these is actually 4/19/13, so that means her birthday must be around 2/19/13....so she just turned a year old. www.flickr.com/photos/wildlifephotos00/13267250753/www.flickr.com/photos/wildlifephotos00/13267101605/Obviously, her points came in darker as she got older. When I first got her, she was just a pretty champagne color with a little darker on her face, tail, and back feet. I didn't have a lamp next to my tank back then either, so it was sorta dark and hard to get good pictures. I have a floor lamp next to the tank now. I wish I'd thought to get some good body shots of her back then but I didn't know any better.
