So i know this is a GERBIL forum but i urgently need help! My guinea pig has a cut, quite deep between his lip and nose. I got him out and tried to wash it gently with some warn water but it keeps bleeding. About 2 hours before he got the cut, i gave the 2 male guinea pigs a bowl of veggies. I went back to the cage to collect the uneaten or empty bowl as i say about 2 hours (or less) after and sam (injured one) has the cut and pip ( non injured) is perfectly fine. I do not know if they fought or if he managed to catch himself on something sharp. Just pleasr if u know anything at all thr could help please tell me! Im worried! But i dont have the money to go to the vet:'(

Take a deep and calm down. Can you post a picture? Until then get a paper towel and put pressure on the wound.

You can gently wash the wound with plain rubbing alcohol on a cotton swab. Pat it gently with a paper towel to get blood off and then apply a triple antibiotic. You should keep a paper towl pressed to it, like DH said. Remember not to remove the paper towel, just keep layering them if the blood begins seeping through. A picture would be helpful so we can address exactly how deep it is.

Thankyou so much! I have washed it with lightly salted warm water. And they fought again and he has a deep cut on his side so we have permanently separated them now i also held it with the paper towel till it stopped. He's really scared now though, he don't like it when anyone goes near him I'm not sure ill be able to get a picture as he wont let me go near him but when i get a picture ill try send it. But his cuts are scabbed over now but his lip and eye are swollen thankyou so much for replying as well.
