This morning I was giving Pirate Mommy some medication for an eye infection, while I was holding her - she suddenly got very exited and tried to jump, my hand slipped and as I cought her - her right front leg got cought in the palm of my hand - I heard a very faint snap like sound.
I immediately put her down and saw her moving with a limp - I then saw that the right leg was dragging as she was moving around.
She has been periodically changing positions and even moving around in the tank - at one point she even made her way to the food bowl. We have been trying to give her little pieces of food which she has occasionally taken.
We do have an appointment with the vet for tomorrow morning - needless to say I am very upset about this, I feel that I am responsible, if I had been more careful - this would not have happened - I am just hoping that she is not in to much pain.
We had been giving her both Metacam (for pain) as well as Baytrill - for the eye infection.

I forgot to mention that it appears to be a closed break. Also, except for the first hour or two, Pirate Mommy has been lying down in her favorite timothy hay log and Snowwhite has been right beside her. Pirate Mommy does occasionally change position, she did take a few seeds and she did lick some nutricall off the tip of my fingers several times. She is shacking a bit (but, she has also been doing this for several days on account of the eye infection - actually, we really thought we were going to lose her two nights ago - her body started to feel cool.
She has not bitten at the broken leg at all - so far.

Poor you and poor gerbil. It is awful when you think you have hurt one, but they are hard to keep hold of and it is hard to keep hold of them when they really want to escape. Sounds like you are doing everything you can do, I think it is best to leave them mostly to themselves and to their cage mate when hurt as you don't want her to stress and hurt herself more. I hope the vet goes well and she recovers swiftly.
