Hi, I've just taken a walk in a local orchard (one that anyone can walk through) and I picked up lots of pear twigs and a few apple twigs. Firstly are these both safe for gerbils? Also what is the best way to wash, sanitise, kill any bugs and make them safe to put in to gerbils tank and for them to chew on? Thanks for any help

Apple twigs are defiantly safe and im pretty sure pear twigs are but im not 100% sure. The best way is to soak the twigs in boiling water for a while and then let them air dry. (You could also search on YouTube 'how to sanitizer wood for hamsters' just say hamsters instead of gerbil because it works the same way) hope this helps xx

Apple AND pear branches are both safe for gerbils. I sanitize branches by baking them at 250o F in the oven for an hour - kills all bugs and most bacteria/viruses.
