Hi I know tubes like crittertrail and habitrail are bad but are their any good tubes to use from my tank to my topper if not what are some good cheap ramps? thanks

Wire mesh (sometimes called hardware cloth) ramps have worked well for me for years. You can get hardware cloth (1/2 inch x 1/2 inch or smaller holes)at hardware stores, garden centers, Home Depot, and Lowes. You need a wire snipper to cut it. You can easily make hardware cloth tubes by 'sewing' the sides of a long strip together with wire.
Another possibility is wooden ladders designed for small birds - however, some gerbils may destroy these in time.
Gerbils are actually excellent climbers. My girls can scale 12 inches of vertical hardware cloth in a second! I ALWAYS make sure the topper's hinged lid is closed!

I use rotastak tubes which are ok as they have metal rings for the ends so they can't chew on them.
