My friends male gerbil seems to have a crusty growth on one of his testicles. It started quite small earlier this year and I thought it was a cyst of something as it was smooth, wasn't too hard and was quite mobile. However, without a trip to the vets by the owner it suddenly 'disappeared' one night, just leaving the extra skin and being totally flat.
Anyway, a couple of weeks ago it started growing again and has now gone 'crusty' and solidly attached to his scrotum. It has also increased in size by more than double.
They can't seem to get a good enough picture of it's crustiness, but it clangs when he walks up the metal ladder, poor thing.
He is in perfect visual health, great weight, coat amazingly soft and lovely and not at all bothered by you touching it or having it clanging behind him. His brother isn't remotely bothered either. They are both 2 years old next week.
I have my own opinions - but would love to hear your thoughts?
Thanks.

Sounds like a benign cyst to me but I'm not a doctor. My dog has them and they usually burst and then refill after time. Gross, I know.
If he doesn't seem bothered and can live a normal life it's probably nothing to worry about. If his behavior changes and he can't eat, move properly or anything else I would take him to the vet.
