We have two little black and white brothers named Jaylex and Jinxx. Jinxx is the more quiet one who loves to be held and petted. Jay, however, is the complete opposite. But some things are happening to Jinxx.
First, he makes weird noses sometimes. I know respiratory infections make the gerbil sound like hes whistling or whatever, but he doesnt do that(thank god!) every once in a while he will hiccup.(its actually pretty adorable) but i don't know if its serious or not. Might not be a hiccup, considering it really sounds like one but he only does it every once in awhile.(he never hiccups more than once. its sorta like a once a day/month/week thing.) And when he sniffs something, sometimes he will make a very weird and extremely loud sound. The best i can explain it, it sounds like a dog does when he/she sniffs rapidy, if that made sense.Or maybe like a pig in a way. Or similar to squirrel sounds, but not as squeeky or whatever.
His legs (his left leg(the sprained one) is getting back to normal! he can move his toes now, but still drags his foot. )
He somehow sprained his foot. Aside from how hes dragging it,(or lifting it up occasionally) theres nothing that looks wrong. He can't move anything from the hock/heel down. I was moving his leg around seeing if theres any wounds or even bones sticking out, and compared to his other leg. Nothing. He doesn't even express any pain at all and acts like his leg isn't broken or sprained. Practically every time i pick him up and check on his leg, he falls asleep. (he usally does this anyway though x3) But yea, i let him walk around my back and arms and he does just fine. Its been about a day or two(maybe 3) since i noticed. Should i go to the vet at all?
And his other leg. Its normal and everything, but there seems to be a bald spot on the inside of his left leg, right next to his knee. Upon looking at the same area on the broken leg, its covered in fur. All i can see is pink skin.
-They have a 20 gallon tank without a second story
-bedding is about 8-10 inches high.(so about half the tank)
-I use the scatterfeed method, but i do put them in a container with more food a little bedding, along with cardboard so they eat a lot easier.
-Aside from bedding of course, there's a water bottle taped to the top corner(the tank isn't made possible for the water bottle to hang like it should.)And yes, the tape is there in a way that its not easy for them to get to.(They've tried chewing it, but its too high up x3) They have a log made out of edible materials(thats fairly new, however) and cardboard.
-I do want to know, should i take Jinxxy to the vet?
If pictures are needed, let me know.
