Hi everyone,
Just wondering your opinion, personally which one do you think is better and why?
For me it's gerbils because mine were always active when I was and sleeping when I was so they fitted perfectly into my life! They were very loving and very athletic. I have looked after several hamsters and all of them were quite aggressive when they were woken up to be played with xD also for me gerbils smell less. (This is just my opinion) just comment below!

In my opinion, they don't compare. Neither is better or worse. They're completely different animals and there's good and not-great things about each of them. Gerbils are less expensive (over time, though their housing at first is costly) than hamsters, easier to bond with, and more energetic in the daytime, while hamsters are neater than gerbils (their habitats usually stay just about how you set them up), and they seem to respond better to human encouragement. Syrian hamsters (and some Winter White/Campbell's dwarfs) seem to form better emotional bonds with their owners. Both animals are extremely fun to watch when they're out and about in their habitat. I think gerbils are a bit easier to care for properly (with both animals, though, research is important before you bring them home), but they do live longer, so hamsters are better short-term commitments. Gerbils show more natural instinct than most hamsters. Hamsters also are less destructive, so it's nice to be able to give them cute toys and decorate their cage. Gerbil tanks get boring to look at after a while. So, in short, they have many differences and many similarities, and neither of them are better. They're just two different potential pets and one might be more fitting for somebody than the other.

rhianna I know that this is off topic, but what is that in your profile picture? The thing Alvin and Simon are eating you mean? It's one of those honey/seed treat sticks.
