I'm taking 1 to the vet, is it ok too separate 1 from the other until I get back?

Yes it's fine to separate them for a vet trip it's usually only a problem to separate gerbils for longer then 24 hours but a trip to the vets should be fine

I would take them both with you. Just incase you have to leave one behind at the vet, they can stay together.

It's fine, I took just the one. They gave me anti-inflammatory tablets for its swollen mouth and nose.

I always bring both cagemates to the vet. They seem to comfort each other during the trip and the visit. The vet also has a healthy gerbil for comparison, which is sometimes helpful.

I took both to the vet when Kate was clicking while breathing. The vet also weighed and took some info on Caroline so he'd have the info to compare to if I ever brought her in for something, so it wound up being worthwhile to have taken both!
