So, as if we needed another reason to add lots of bedding, I found out that a healthy supply of it actually makes them jump less - at least for my boys. Maybe because they're less bored? I don't know, but it surprised me because I assumed they'd be closer to the top of the tank and therefore more likely to try and escape when I opened it for feeding.
Has anyone else had a problem with jumping? I remember seeing a post on here about a woman whose gerbils died from hitting their heads on the tank screen.
Trying really hard to prevent that...
