Sorry if this is a stupid question but how do you 'find out' the genes of a gerbil? Or do you have to know the like mother of the gerbil? I have a Black and Silver Nutmeg gerbil (from a pet shop) so i dont know the parents. Obvs im not going to breed them but im interested in the genes of a gerbils as im planning on breeding gerbils in the future but know nothing about genes? I hope that made sense Ive tried researching it but its confusing ;') is it possible you guys could help me get my head round it?

I have a hard time with genetics too. . . but I'm getting there! Prairieclan has a great page that is easier to understand then anything else I've ever found: prairieclan.com/genes.htmlAnd if you just want to figure out what the genes are of your current gerbils, you're only going to be able to find out so much of them without knowing the parents. But another page on Prairieclan has the colors and genes of gerbils: prairieclan.com/gerbils.htmlHope that helps.
