They have a 20gallon long tank 3/4 of it is filled with 6 inches of Carefresh ultra. And be teeth it has their wooden hut and a glass jar and a cardboard long box. Then on the shallow side I have their wheel glass jar water bottle and rock for the, to sit on and file nails. So lately all they do is either run in the wheel or they go to the deep side and try to escape the cage. How do I fix this they have plenty to do! Also they won't dig tunnels I've always given them room to dig tunnels 6inces or higher. But it seems like they don't know how I've seen them dig but they don't make tunnels. Is there a way I can teach them to?
Thanks,
GerbilMan

Carefresh alone isn't the best for holding tunnels; perhaps you could mix in aspen and maybe some timothy hay? They do sound bored. How often do you change the layout around and give them new things to explore? What is their out of tank time like, and how often do they get it?

I put a handful of oxbows Timothy hay on top of the bedding. Should I mix it in with the bedding the A? Also they get out 1-2 times a week on the weekends. And I change there layout every week.

I'd mix a bit more in with the carefresh, I had the same problem but it's fixed now and my gerbies are much happier. Is there any way you can take them out 3-4 times a week? I take my boys out every other day and it keeps them from getting bored. I understand that life happens though! If not, providing a few extra boxes and toys should keep them busy until you're able to take them out.
