I've noticed in the last couple months that our two female gerbils haven't been chewing as much cardboard. It used to be if we tossed in a TP roll, it would get annihilated in an hour or less. Now, one will still be around, partially chewed, after several days. I was wondering if it was getting harder for them to chew cardboard as they are getting older, about 2.75 yrs old now. So I've been tossing in scrap paper and light cardstock, like magazine subscription cards. They go after and chew the paper and cards like they used to go after cardboard. I guess they are just getting older and having a harder time with cardboard?
