So, we were origionaly only going to get 2 gerbils, but we have 3. We have slowly added on to our 10 gallon tank and topper by adding a home made topper on top of the store bought topper. My question is should I still try and connect my 2nd 10 gallon tank. I know more is always better, but I am still trying to find a way to connect it. I cant figure out how. If u have Ideas please tell. I may be able to post a picture later on.
Also the gerbils are about 6 months old now.

I have heard that many small spaces can cause territorial declanning behavior. Apparently different animals mark different areas as their own and then they fight. Often this behavior starts in animals about 6 months (like yours). If what you have isn't enough room, maybe it is time for a 20 gallon upgrade. One larger area seems to be less likely to cause this problem than many smaller ones.

Like sinthiav, I have heard that too. You could try to find a cheap fish tank from ebay/craigslist/other sites where people are selling their things.

What about, like I said, somehow connecting my other 10 gallon tank. Any ideas about that? My parents will pay if my gerbils have a vet emergency, but if there's any way that we can use things we already have, they won't buy and i'll be saving money for a while to get them a larger tank.

Oh, and I don't Think they will de clan, but I will watch for fights or disturbances. They all use the class tank to sleep in together. They just eat and drink in the second. They have a wheel and some tubes in the third level. They usually do everything together and stay on the same level as the others often. The only often exception is that Bolt goes on the wheel every evening and will not tolerate the others in the wheel and will push them out. They groom eachother all the time.

Tank toppers are usually fine and don't cause declanning, at least. If you do want to connect your one tank to another, you could use plastic tubes, or do something like this: s-media-cache-ak0.pinimg.com/736x/ce/09/4f/ce094f04eac55ddad7af83c979cb84cI also like the layout of the tank in the link, you could also do something like that if you end up connecting the two. I'm not sure is this actually true in any way, but maybe it would prevent declanning if both sides don't have deep bedding, as then they would only be able to make a nice nest on one side..

Ok, although I won't be able to give them cardboard on one side I guess, because I don't give them as much bedding as many, they make their own by chewing!

Oh, okay that does look like a great cage. Mine will never look exactly like that of course, but it helps me get ideas of connecting my cages.

It's like a bedroom and a living room. I think it is because the furnishings are wooden that they don't get shredded on the living room side. I'm sure they get chewed though ;-}
