Joey (DEH) and Raven (Black) mated 23rd last month, making her due date around the 19th this month. Although still 14 days in I've noticed a weight change and small bump. I am aware they don't show till about 18 days in, but Joeys quite the slim gerbil (perfect shape and size and not overweight)
I don't expect much variation in the litter however I'm estimating ( bit early but im excited) about 6 in the litter. Im also aware that the male should stay in to help, however this is a one off and I do not want a second litter. Joey has been mother to three male spotted honey cream pups before i adopted her, so shes not a first time mum. Shes 11months old, raven will be 5 months on the 20th.
I cant post pictureas because im on my phone. Any comments or queries?

Will look forward to pics when they are born! Based off the parents genes, what colors are you expecting?

Im sure of agouti, but since they weren't picked specifically to breed, I am unsure of their reccesives. It's mostly a waiting game, but there will be non agouti if Joey is heterozygous for the agouti gene. I'm not an expert but I dont expect a large variety in colour as Ravens litter I belive was mixed with another, so the parents are unknown. The woman I got him off wasn't very clear with colours neither and when I asked for pictures of the possible parents, she sent me pictures off google. I'll keep the thread updated, they're due Thursday.

Some females can start to show the bump up to a week in advance if you know what you are looking for - but then not all females have a litter at exactly 21 days either. They like to keep us in suspense.
Has she got any bigger since your last update?

Yeah she looks like a sack of potatoes, I held her earlier and felt little lumps moving around where her belly rested on my palm. She's so heavy.

Right, so any day then? Mine just had hers a few days ago - still haven't seen them, but she wasn't so big so not expecting many in there...
Yours sounds like she is full to the brim!

Haha yes one should definitely have a name with that kind of meaning, they were born in a unique day indeed they're so cute, little tiny dumplings annoying their mommy in some huge nest. Joeys officially gone mad, when she not with them shes hanging off the top of her tank... thats what eight lil onesdo to you I suppose haha. At least theres enough to have some possible colour variation, I'll look more into their pigments soon.
