I am going to go shopping soon and I was wondering what the best gerbil treats are.

Sunflower seeds, ours go mad for them as they don't get many the the food mix. Or the special chocolate or yogurt drops.

You can't go wrong with most fruit, seeds, nuts, and unsweetened cereals. Out gerbils favorite treats in order are Cheerios, almond slices, a bit of blueberry or banana, pumpkin seeds, sunflower seeds, and whole grain Chex. --------------------------------------------------------------------- Eowyn (F) 11/12/2011 - 20 gallon with 20 gallon topper Goldberry (F) 11/12/2011 - 20 gallon with 20 gallon topper -------------------------------------------------------------- RIP Maire 11/6/2008 - 4/6/2011; Eithne 11/6/2008 - 10/10/2011 Lori 5/2/2011 - 7/24/2013; Mo 5/2/2011 - 1/14/2014; Carly 5/2/2011 - 5/21/2014 Arwen 11/12/2011 - 2/8/2015

One of the oddest "treats" our love is chips (french fries). Discovered by by accident, they really do go mental over them, near full on fight if someone else wants to see what's going on. We suspect very unhealthy for them, so only a little bit every few months.

My daughter also made them pancakes on pancake day, they went down well too. More of a one-of treat than every day treat.

I give my gerbils mealworms, they love mealworms but contain loads of nutrition so make sure not to give them too many if you do decide to give them mealworms because you don't want to give them too much nutrition. I give mine about three or four every two or three days as a treat. I also give my gerbils a tiny bit of fruit/veg once a week as an extra little treat, I don't like to give them in big quantities or give them too often as it can cause diorhea. They can eat carrots, celery etc. Here is a link to the correct fruit and veg to give them: www.thegerbils.com/maintenance3food.htm. As previously mentioned by some other people milk drops, yoghurt drops and choco drops are good for them also they are cheap They are usually around 50 - 75p so they are really cheap. In Pets @ Home there are pick n mix bags you can pick up usually for 2 for £2 there are good variations and they are unique treats as well. My gerbils love all kinds of the pick n mix you can buy. Hope I Helped PetMad15
