Just before 10pm, Zena seemed to have had a stroke or seizure-she is 2 years old-and seems to be doing some chewing and moving around but seems lethargic and have her eyes half closed. I've been looking online and seems all I can do is keep her calm, make sure she is eating and drinking and wait. I will phone the vets tomorrow morning but see on sites that there isn't much a vet can do if she had a stroke/seizure. She is a skittish gerbil so I'm not sure a vet visit will be smart, but will see how she is in the AM. Soon before she had this episode, she was thumping and was scared, not sure if that brought this on or that was due to the start of what happened to her. Any help is appreciated. She seems warm and seems to know I'm here and has even done abit of chewing. Would a vet be able to do anything? it's expensive here and also taking her could cause her more harm, don't you think?

I've seen the seizure type stuff before even when holding them and something freaks them out, normally they recover in an hour or so. If it's longer then it's more serious. Best to find a vet that knows gerbils, some are so bad they can't even hold them right.

thank you, Zena seems to have recovered enough overnight to be able to chew, looks alert but is still tired, I really didn't see it happen, she was in her coconut and then came out looking really sickly. She did recover abit but wasn't herself. I didn't get much sleep last night worrying I was going to find her worse but thankfully she seems to be improving.
