Illnesses that would make a gerbil cold?

A fellow gerbil lover has just had a gerbil die after 2 days of weight loss and apparently being very cold to the touch. No other obvious symptoms.

Such a quick demise makes me think it was a major organ failure. Any ideas?

I agree, major organ failure or an inability to eat. Most serious illnesses will cause a gerbil to be cold to the touch.
