My male gerbils, who are over a year old and maybe even a year and a half old, weigh 3.1 oz and 2.75 oz. Is that normal?
I can't find the piece of paper where I kept track of their weights, but I feel like the smaller one used to be the bigger one. They are almost identical so maybe I confused them but that isn't likely since their personalities are different.

Male gerbils usually are 3-4.5 oz. Have you checked that the smaller one's teeth are okay? You might also want to keep an eye out whether or not he's eating, if you are worried he is losing weight. You could also give him some extra sunflower seeds and/or mealworms, so he would gain some weight. However, he is almost 3 oz, so I don't think the weight is too much of a problem, unless he is actually losing it and used to be bigger.

2.5 to 4.0 oz is normal, or 70g to 110g. We've always found siblings do vary a lot in weight as the become fully grown.

The problem is that I don't know what they used to weigh, so I will monitor carefully now. I put the smaller one in the playpen first so he could forage and eat alone before the larger one comes in and eats faster.
If they seem to have to trouble eating when I give them a treat, could they still have teeth problems? I find it hard to see their teeth when I try to look.

It's normal for gerbils to get heftier with age. It's not typically a health issue like it would be with people. I have had some 100+ gram gerbils live past 3 or 4 years. As long as they get exercise by tunneling or wheel running, not a big issue. It's just normal gerbil biology.

Yeah. I have some real chunk monsters, mainly the older men.
Nothing stops them charging around their run though, or moving ALL their bedding from one side of the tank to the other overnight...

Mine weighs 3.5 and I think he is rather chubby but I make him excerise by rearranging his bedding so he has to start again (every couple of days :-)
