So I've had my gerbils a few weeks now and everyday I put my hand in with food into the tank so that they have to come on/near my hand to get food.
A couple times a week they also get a treat if they climb into my hand. (They will eat it in my hand)
I pick them up in my actual hand every few days so they get used to it.
What else can I do to make them tame? I would like them to be as comfortable with me as possible.

If you can, find a space, like a play pen and let them run in it. You can sit there too so they can climb on you

Sounds like you're doing great, continue what you're doing. I would have mine jump up into my hand a few times a day for a sunflower/pumpkin seed and it did wonders for teaching them to welcome having me in their space. I agree that sitting in a play pen with them and letting them crawl on you is another great idea. They can get more used to you using your hands on them in there as they run around on you.
