I just bought Ware Wood Gnawsome Small Pet Hut with Chew Toy for my gerbils. There was a label stuck to it and when I pulled the label off two hard spots of glue remained. I tried to get this glue off by scraping and by using some water, but nothing works. I am afraid to put the hut in their aquarium because the gerbils will chew on the glue and it might be toxic. So my question is - Is it safe to put the hut in the aquarium?
Thanks.

It shouldn't be, but of course you can't trust anyone these days to do what you expect to be right.
However, I wouldn't worry too much as it will be quite unlikely that they ingest the glue even if they chew it off the hut. I have never had any trouble with bits if glue left on huts myself, but if you are worried, then you may need to scratch it off with something sharp...
We all know how dangerous plastic CAN be, but plenty of people still put it in their tanks and have no trouble at all. Go with what YOU think is right as you are the one who loves and cares for them the most.

I scraped off as much as I could and put the hut in the aquarium. They love it. They are climbing all over it, going inside and gnawing on the wood pegs that you can stick in the little holes. They seem to be ignoring the slight bit of glue that is left. I think that Ware should use a less strong glue.

Perhaps you could write to them if you are concerned - if people don't tell a manufacturer they are unhappy, they will never know and so go on making the same products the same way.
After all, it is consumers like us around the world who keep them in business.
Glad that your gerbs love the new house!

I sent them an email, but haven't received a response.

I wouldn't trust them with it even if they claim it's safe, they chew and eat some of it for fun.
