I think that members who haven't been on for a year or more should be deleted, maybe with a warning email or something. It is just very misleading that we have so many members but half have not even been on in 3 years. Does that make sense, that's just how they did it in another proboards forum (except they did it monthly, but that seems to short a time, maybe every 6 months?) that I saw and it made a lot of sense to me.

But what if they want to come back? Of course they would be able to make a new account, but I find that always a bit hassle. I do see where you are coming from, but i personally don't see the problem in having X amount of members when, in fact, only B amount uses the forum.
Do you know what is the reasoning for the other forums to delete members that haven't been online for X amount of time?

IT is all right without this, but I just thought it might be useful. Idk I'm just a neat freak who wants everything to be tidy. The forum just said they cleaned the users list out it didn't say why. If you want to look for it it is a forum about ferrets I found when I was thinking about getting one.

I have been inactive for months since I don't have gerbils anymore. I moved from Texas to California and they aren't legal as pets here. I had gotten a robo hamster from Petsmart and it died within two weeks, which is something I noticed happens pretty often with small pets that come from Petsmart. I miss my gerbils, especially after seeing all these pictures here of cute gerbils.

Leafwhisp- I also see where you're coming from, but the staff are already pretty busy. Taking away accounts and possibly adding more for past members who want to come back will be more time-consuming for them. Doesn't matter a whole lot to me though. Rexcalibur- Sorry to hear you can't have gerbils anymore and about your hamster. I remember hearing about CA not allowing gerbils anymore cause for awhile, pet stores here thought they would stop carrying them too because of it or something. But nice to see you on the forum again.

Perhaps we should try to make the forum more welcoming to new guests when they first start to post, or someone could offer to personally write a message to new members as they join - as not everyone who joins will want to make a post. How about we all start to pay more attention to the guest board too?
Perhaps we should offer more 'anonymous' type posts so the new members can vote or post an answer to a quiz without the risk of getting told off our proved wrong so to speak. I didn't write on this forum for ages after setting up my account, forums can be scary places when there are so many experts about...
And I wish someone could find a way to upload pictures to the forum from your own hard drive?
