What kind of bedding is best for gerbils? At the moment I am using care fresh and am wondering if I should change to a different kind of bedding.

There are many options, I wouldn't say any one is best. Carefresh is a good bedding, some complain about it being dusty which could be bad for your gerbils lungs. A lot of people recommend aspen but I've had multiple gerbils who get red, irritated noses on it. I've used Eco-Bedding and Kaytee clean and cozy and I like both. Very little dust, both are easy to tunnel through. They are more expensive than aspen though.

I have been very wary of Carefresh since there were ALOT of incidents with their new formula with alot of rodents like rats, hamsters and even Gerbils DYING from it. Carefresh also smells bad, I hate it, they can't even dig well in.
I use Aspen and Oxbow hay.

If you live in the UK Argos Non Toxic Children's Play Sand is a good substrate because it's natural for them and good burrowing material so the tunnels hold in place. My gerbils love it Hope I Helped PetMad15

I have been using care fresh for my gerbils and have also used it with guinea pigs and hamsters. Never had any problems. I love being able to change the colors too! My girls get it all fluffed up and love making tunnels in it!

Fitch bedding is also good as well but the only trouble is, is that it comes in bailes and can be expensive, but it is up to you PetMad15

I am currently using Fitch and I believe I paid about 20 pounds for 20 kilos, so I think that is a really good price. I'm surprised how good the bedding actually is when it comes to holding tunnels (at least when mixed with hay). I really liked using Megazorb as well, and it cost around 15 pounds for 14 kilos (and lasted from late January to June, although I mixed it with wood shavings), so again, good value for money!
However, those two are only available in the UK (I think), so if you are somewhere else, aspen is a great choice (could mix it with hay). I personally didn't like Carefresh when I tried it, I found it a bit dusty. Kaytee Clean & Cosy seems to be another popular option in the US.
