Poor Fraggle, another declan... what shall I do with a lovely gerbil-friendly 38 month old? How many splits is too many?
She lived with her sister until they both found husbands and started a family. After being left with her final daughter, she was violently attacked when her daughter reached 6 months. Then she was alone.
I gave her 2 young females from her son's latest litter, and they lived happily ever after until they got to about 6 months, when they attacked her. She was alone again.
Her 2 older sisters had been living with a friend, and one of them died, so I split her to her surviving sister but 6 months later, her sister died. She was alone again.
I then split her to a real scardy gerbil who had witnessed a large declan, and they lived happily ever after for 5 months until last night, when she started chasing Fraggle.
Now she is alone again.
Would you split her again with someone, someone already dominant? Or would you let her retire alone in peace?

Sounds like Fraggle could use some peace in her twilight years. If she's not obviously depressed on her own she would probably be a lot less stressed and happier.

Thanks for your comments.
Fraggle never seems stressed out about anything actually, she is one chilled gerbil. I just feel a bit mean when gerbils are on their own as they look so natural together. Maybe because she is so calm and accepting, the other gerbils think they can boss her around.
I will have a good think about it before I do anything...

Well, I have been watching her on her own for a while in her giant tank - and I think she will be just fine on her own.
She is only one month short of outliving her dad, and she has lost a bit of weight (she got really fat when she first moved in with Freckle) now she looks like her youthful self when she first became a mum.
I think I shall leave her to relax over the summer and see what she gets up to on her own...

I bet she'll do well alone. When our boys declanned we left them both alone and they seemed perfectly happy and lived quite a bit longer even though they were already 3 when they declanned.
