I was wondering if I can feed my gerbils live crickets. If I get 2 and put them in the cage. Would they immediately go after it? Or would it have to be in there for a while. And would they even know what to do or eat it?
Thanks.

It would be best to actually give then directly to the gerbils so they don't run around for too long, crickets aren't very nice as they get older, and you don't want one to moult to adult before they eat it.
If not, stick with younger locusts like I do, hold their back legs and give the head end to the gerbil first for a quick kill... (adult locusts have got spikes on their back legs and can really scratch)...
Only give one at a time at first, as some gerbils don't like live food (like older smaller adults, some dainty females or pups) and they will run away from it if is let loose, so you might need to re catch some (which can be really difficult).
