I've bought a carrot and my dog usually eats most of it so I've halfed it. I've got a half here to split between 5 cages (7 gerbils) I know I love them! How much do I usually give them?

People give varying amounts depending on their gerbils - but for the first time you try something - if you assume to give them pieces that are no bigger than they can hold in their front paws (anything from raisin-sized to ground nut-sized) then you can gauge whether a) they like it - otherwise that veg will rot in the tank if you don't take it out; and b) whether it affects their poop over the next few days.
Once you start the know what they like and how much, you can be more flexible.

We only give sizes about this big, at most maybe two times a week: or banana:

Mine have dried carrot once or twice a week. I give them about one dried slice between the two of them.
