I'm not trying to sound gross or anything but I think I have gay gerbils I checked if they were both boys and they were. But my oldest boy keep trying to breed with my other boy and I don't think that is safe

Totally normal - nothing to worry about.
Just throw a towel over the tank if you don't want to watch (it can go on for hours sometimes!).

Watch for signs of fighting or bullying, though. Sometimes boys constantly mounting is a sign of an impending declanning.

With females at least it can also mean scent marking the submissive gerbil.

With females it's most often because one or both are in heat. Males don't go into heat, so it's more likely to be a dominance issue, which yes, involves scent marking.
