Yogi & Boo (girls) have been living in a permanent split for a while now. Yogi had been in a small tank in the adoption centre at PAH for 3 months when we brought her home in April. She's a 'quirky' girl - reminds me of Luna Lovegood from Harry Potter. We found Boo & her 2 sisters on a free ads website. They'd declanned & Boo had lost half her tail & has some nasty scarring & a bald patch at the base of her tail. Her sisters went to live with our son's friend & once she was fully healed we put Boo in a split with Yogi. After 2 failed attempts to introduce them I decided to leave them in a permanent split so stopped the swapping & gave them plenty of toys etc... But the last few days they've spent a lot of time next to each other at the mesh so this afternoon I took the split out to see what they'd do. They went into a ball after a few minutes but with Boo pinned under a jar Yogi went off to chew some cardboard so I let Boo go & she went to another part of the tank & started to eat. This happened twice more & each time they went off in their own direction after being separated so I figured they didn't really want to kill each other. Anyway, after 5 hours & lots of posturing they started to calm down. And right now (6 & a half hours after being put together) they're asleep in one nest. My 1st successful (if unintentional) split. Priceless

Sounds a lot like how it went with our Silver and crystal, took a lot of time for them to finally stop posturing and just accept each other. They're still super happy together though a couple of months on, so hopefully your two will be as well. Congrats to you and them

I hope so. It's so lovely to see them together. After failing to get the boys (Comet & Ernie) together when I thought they'd be quite compatible, I never expected this with Yogi & Boo.

Well the girls seem happily in love I took all their toys & houses out yesterday before I removed the split - mainly to make it easier to catch/separate them as soon as the full on 'I hate you' moment I was expecting happened. This morning I've given them a clean playsticks den, a toilet roll tube & some fresh toilet paper to shred. My plan is to start adding bits back in one at a time morning & evening each day. I assume it's best to wash everything to remove their individual scents first?

I believe so, either way there's no harm in washing everything just in case. I slowly added something back in every week, you can never be sure just what might set a fight off, so I went super slow so as not to over stimulate them Oh and I always chop my toilet rolls in half now (or give them two), especially at the start 'fighting' over the toilet roll was common place, this way they easily have a bit each without getting in each others way (unless they decide to chomp on the same bit XD ).

Thanks. I knew to take it slowly but didn't realise how slowly! I won't put anything else in with them for a couple of days & then I'll put 2 jars in so they can both play in them at the same time.

t1gg3er congratulation's on you're intro, I recently had the same success with Dazy & Howy. It happened in a similar way to you're unexpected and all of a sudden. Now my question is have these two breed yet or not? Even though I've seen Howy try to mount Dazy but Dazy run's away from him. has he caught her yet dunno!!
