hi all, this is my first time posting do sorry if i make a mistake, but well my gerbil dovah has some sort of pus coming out of his eyes and every morning i clean it out but by the time i come home its come back!when it dries it seals his eyes shut and i think hes afraid to move now because of this. hes also lost a lot of weight and we've taken him to the vet and she gave us so antibiotics and that seems to help a little but his eyes are still closed. i should add that he is a ill but we cant seem to figure out whats happening with him. anyone have any advice on how to clean his eyes so that he can at least open them? i hate seeing him like this Thanks

You could maybe try cleaning them regularly with saltwater for about a week, if it's some sort of eye infection it might clear it up.
To do this make fresh salt water every day (boil a cup of water and add about a tea spoon of salt to it, let it cool before you use it, if you leave it overnight and use it again it could develop bacteria so always use fresh each day), get cotton buds/q-tips and dip an end in the salt water and swipe it over his eye, use a fresh cotton bud/q-tip for each swipe on each eye, do not re-dip the cotton bud/q-tip as this could infect the salt water making it useless. Clean the eyes about 4 times a day in this way, each time you clean the aim is to remove the gunk so he can open them happpily again.
One of my girls had an eye that started going crusty and I did this for her for a week and it hasn't gone crusty again since. However as I don't now the cause I can't promise that this will work for your boy, but you may think it is worth a try.

Sadly dovah passed away. He was really sick and suffering. Hopefully he is better now where ever he is. We are all devastated me the most because he was my baby. Stormy is now alone but he seems to be Alright. Thank you for the advice though, it was a little spark of light in all the darkness

Rip Dovah. I hope Stormy will be okay alone, just give him extra attention and I'm sure he will be fine.
