We had killed a wasp today, and my boyfriend put it in the cage, just like we do with all other insects we find. And while one of my gerbils was eating it, I think her paw got stung somehow and she is just running backwards and forwards not using the paw Should we be worried, maybe take her to the vet or will it pass?

how is she acting now? do you notice any swelling? I wouldn't put insects in your gerbils, esp. wasps. Hope your gerbil is okay but if she does seem to be in pain, you should take her to the vet or at least try saline and manuka honey to help her heal.

We took her to the vet and got some pain killers, she's a fighter so he said she will be ok, but she will be in pain for a few days. Giving them insects is usually very good for them, seeing as they are omnivores, but wasps and the like is hereby not allowed in the cage.

glad she will be okay and hope the pain killers help her feel more comfortable.
