Hi everyone My pups are 6 weeks old today, and we have homes for all of them, the first one is being picked up tonight. Mum is almost ready to give birth again, and I know I should remove the pups so she has some space. The problem is just that it makes me feel so sad, the pups really love their parents, and I want to remove them in the best way possible. So how should I do it? should I just remove them one by one as they are being picked up by their new owners or should I remove them all at once and put them all in the spare cage until they get picked up? Any advice is greatly appreciated.

Are you leaving any with mum to help with the next litter or is dad staying with her? If you're taking dad out & leaving a daughter with mum you could put all the other pups with dad until they go to their homes so at least they'd still be with one parent until they go.
I'm dreading the point where we have to part with some of our pups even tho we'll still get to see them & stay in touch with them. I get far too attached & sentimental!

Dad gets to stay, the last of the pups will be picked up on Saturday. Last time it took about a week from mum beginning to make a nest to her actually giving birth, so we might not even have the pups long enough for them to meet their siblings. I know how you feel, just separating them and putting them in another cage was horrible, knowing they will all leave home soon is even worse. luckily most gets to stay with a sibling 8 of them will be leaving in same sex pairs, which leaves just one girl who gets a whole new family, she is the one leaving tonight.
