That's how he stands and walks. He is not laying on his side. I think he broke his neck.

I'm so very sorry about your gerbil He looks like a sweet little thing. Hopefully someone will answer your question soon since I reall don't know much about things like this... we're all rooting for his health and betterment.

It's possible he has or had an ear infection. This can cause a permanent head tilt. If he has an infection, you should take him to the vet to get him some meds. Normally, if they recover they adapt to walking with a tilt and do just fine. Best of luck with your gerbie!

He may of had a stroke. Thats how my gerbil Kinks walked after he had one. Help him by putting things like long toliet rolls in the cage. Him walking through them will help him learn how to straighten out and walk proberly. Also if you have a solid wheel with a non slopeing floor, that will also help him strenghen out.

I would also say an inner ear infection, a tumour or a stroke! If he had a broken neck, he would not live this long!
