Just to update that Fox and Raven unfortunately didn't work out. We decided to abandon the split yesterday, after the third failed intro attempt. They were sleeping in each other's nests from the start, grooming through the divider a lot, but each time we removed the divider, Raven started behaving very aggressively and sideblocking Fox, and they were in a ball within a few minutes.
In total, they were in the split for 6 weeks - I know some people have had success after waiting much longer, but but we didn't see any improvement in Raven's behaviour and both girls seemed to be getting quite stressed by the split environment; especially poor Fox, who seems very intelligent and really didn't seem to like being confined to such a small space with nothing to do.
So they have now moved into our big 40gl cage in a permanent split. They both seem quite happy to finally have lots of toys, lots of space to dig, and being able to come out for playtime on the sofa. I'm quite disappointed the intro didn't work out, but at least they'll still have a much nicer life than they did in the pet stores rescue section where we got them from!

That's a shame, but like you said a nice big permanent split is much better than the pet store and your smaller split.
I was looking for quite a while for a partner for my older lone female, but one of my other old ladies passed recently, and so her tank mate and my old lady are now in a split and it looks like it is going well, so hopefully it won't be long before they are all snuggled up.
Well, I hope so anyway...
However, since then, I have lost another one and so STILL have a single female - although this one is much younger so I need to plan her new friend carefully. I am on the prowl for singles.
Now I have an aging herd of gerbils, it seems splits are all I do?

They are together - as of a few hours ago - both asleep now in the bedroom. The old lady is certainly the boss there!
And I may have found an old gerbil to go with my single girl who is looking decidedly lonely... Yay.
I feel like Cilla on Blind Date.

Happy to hear it worked out for your old lady, there is nothing quite like a pile of loved up, newly bonded sleeping gerbils. Hope it works out for your other single girl as well.
And I would definitely watch Gerbil Blind Date if it was on Tv!
