Hello, I have three male gerbils living together for about one year. Today, the oldest one started fighting with the two younger ones. He was staring them down and trying to bite their noses then going crazy trying to get them into the ball of death. One of the younger ones starting thumping and I immediately separated them. I don't know why he is acting this way. When I change their bedding, I always keep old bedding so they have the smells of each other. I have the young ones in the tank and the older one on top in the wire part. I have a tank separator that I can use when I find the pieces. Am I able to reintroduce them after a couple of weeks like I did at first? This is stressful as I lost one of my guinea pigs last week. Please help!!! Angel

That does sound odd, usually the attacking one goes for the others bottoms. And he was attacking both? Has anything recently changed (less food being put in, did one of them get sick)? As long as no blood was drawn you will probably be able to reintroduce them, but I would wait a little while before trying. I'm sorry to hear that you're going through a rough time, hang in there.

Thank you for your reply! Nothing has changed. I am getting them a bigger tank to see if that's the problem. That's the only thing that I can think of. I'll split the tank and give it a couple of weeks.
