Trying to sell one of my big gerbilarium stir free around my area but my mum mentioned that my single gerbil Nico might be happier in the bigger gerbilarium than the smaller gerbilarium. I'm considering moving him over but needing opinions on whether or not he'd be lonelier in a bigger cage. I've tried cage splitting him with another male but he didn't take to it very well at all.

I think the bigger one would be better, because it would give him more room to dig and make tunnels, even if he's alone. Did you do the split caging by using the 2 gerbilariums, or did you do it in a single setup?

Single setup. A tank with a mesh split. It didn't go planned on the first, second or third try. The kept fighting and I left it for weeks at a time.

Sometimes split caging can take up to a month or so. If they didn't draw blood and you still have the other male, you could try again, if they didn't draw blood and if you were up for it. Then again, some gerbils just aren't meant to be!
