Well that is good news in part then.
Fingers crossed for a lotto win to pay for a day off work and the fuel cost covered (and some extra tanks!).

Fingers crossed... We're talking about maybe taking a trip somewhere to ease some stress... maybe that trip could involve a rex!
They haven't gotten back to me yet, though... so not quite sure right now.

I'm sure they have a process - and hopefully plenty of rex gerbils in their kennel. There will be pups soon.
I had to wait a while to get my first rexes, but it was sure worth it. They were gorgeous.

Yes for sure, definitely looking forward to getting a rex, when that happens. They responded and let me know that they're taking a break from breeding this year, but still have a few young adult Rex gerbils, which they will hold for me if I want. So now I'm figuring out how to get down to Texas for the gerbs... Although, I'm not really in a position to leave right now, and I have heard of animal transport services. I know very little about them, so I was wondering if anyone here might have worked with any of them?

Probably - I would start a new thread in the general section about it as there a defo some red flags in the US when it comes to animal transport services. I am sure people have used good ones as well as heard stories about bad ones...
Maybe also post a new thread in the 'shows and events' section because often someone gerbil-loving may be travelling to a show and be coming right past you (or a lot closer to you than Texas) and so could be your courier instead of a transporter.
Maybe contact the AGS and see where all the shows are across the country and go from there. I have done this exact thing in the UK - but the show was a mixed show and I got a guinea pig breeder to bring some gerbils across the country for me (basically the guinea pig breeder was coming home (to their own home) to within 20 miles of my house - and so they didn't even need to go out of their way).
