sometimes when i clean out the tank, i find a little food store buried in his bed - it's his preciousssss LOL Yes, all of my gerbils do the same thing, but when Pep does it, it's so much funnier just cause he loves his gerbil chow!!!

So, Isis, Osiris and I had some fun last night while I attempted to weigh them! In the end I just gave up, put their sand bath on the scales and put them in there one at a time and as it stands Isis is about 78g and Osiris is about 94g (they wouldnt stop moving for accuracy!) so both within Ashgerbils estimates of between 60g and 100g being healthy. I guess Osiris is just a bit of a fat mare, like her mother, ie. me

I think I'm going to try and weigh mine. Francine is really slim still, and I think Katchoo is just about right, but as they've grown up Rory has started turning in to a little fatty!! She's just so much bigger than the other two, which makes sense because she's one of the laziest gerbils I have ever seen in my whole life.

I need to weigh my Riley.. He's a pudge and a half, lol.. Gerbils are supposed to have necks? lol He's SO docile and refuses to use a running wheel or basically exercise... His fave treat would be dog kibble or millet sprays or flax seeds... He doesn't get ANY sunflower seeds, never has in his life, or peanuts or corn... lol...

He's SO docile and refuses to use a running wheel or basically exercise... Yeah, but that's the best part! Sometimes when Pep is in my hand, he won't even bother to stand up (how's THAT for lazy!). He lays with his belly in my hand, his front paws on one side of my hand, and his back paws on the other side. He also lets me stroke his head and his back... seems like he enjoys it! Pep does "exercise," though... he walks on the wheel. No running, mind you. He just walks. It's actually hilarious, because the Nutmegs in the tank to the left will be going nuts on the wheel, the girls in the tank to the right will be flying on the wheel, and then there's Pep. Oh, Pep. Riley looks ADORABLE. He clearly believes that gerbil necks are optional.
