"Other" Class
This class was opened to any colour since quite a few people missed putting their gerbils into previous classes. I thought it was very hard to choose a first place winner since so many of the gerbils were about equal in the quality of their physical characteristics. So, here we go.
Third Place:
Amy's "Jam," is an amazing three year-old female light Silver Nutmeg. Unfortunately I wasn't able to judge her tail, but what terrific shape she is in, especially considering her age. She has a great body and head shape, lovely even ticking with the subtle golden colouration of her type. Her eyes are a little too rounded but her ears and whiskers are terrific. Wish I'd seen her tail!
Second Place:
(ash) Dawn's "Eugene" at 6 months is a mystery gerbil in that we don't know what colour she is. I suspect she is a pied Dove but will still keep her in this class as we just don't know. Her fur is very light with a slight golden beige tone on the rump and is in nice condition with no staining. She has dark ruby eyes and amazingly long whiskers. Her ears and tuft could be better. Very striking girl with lovely shape and colour.
First Place:
(sunshinegerbils) Chelsea's "Cinder," a 24 month old male Colourpoint Slate has dramatic dark colouring accented with black points. Fur is in great condition. His body has a nice shape but I'd like to see him quite a bit bigger. Tuft is not bad, but his eyes are a bit too rounded. Lovely whiskers and a very heart-stealing pose.
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
(whitmoregirl) Lauren's "Rose" is a 10 month old female Honey Cream. She has a beautiful colour marked very attractively on the nose, forehead, neck and tail. She has slim feminine build but could have a slightly better tuft. Her eyes and whiskers are very nice!
---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Kim's "Riley," a 16-month old male light Dark Eyed Honey has a very pleased expression! He has a good tail, tuft and whiskers, and quite nice ears and eyes. His coat is in good condition, however, he is a bit too huggable, if you get my drift, to win a ribbon--this time. Obviously a well-loved boy.
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
(whitmoregirl) Lauren's "Totty," a 10-month old Honey Cream female is cute, cute, cute! She has beautiful colouring and even ticking with fur in good condition. I like her markings. Her tail tuft could be bigger, but I love her eyes and ears!
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Kim's "Poe" is a handsome 34-month old Dark Eyed Honey lightened with a Schimmel gene. He is nice and big with beautiful eyes, ears and whiskers. I like his tuft, too. Coat could be in better condition but then, considering his age...
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Congrats to the winners, and well done, all!
