Here are a few suggestions to help keep you gerbil(s) cool on hot days.
* Place a dry (and clean) frozen Rock or Tile in their cage, replace when no longer cool. * Place a frozen glass jar (half filled with water) with a metal lid in the tank. * Frozen Treats, like small bits of fruit or vegetables. * Place a fan in the same room as them, but not blowing into the tank. * Add an air conditioner to their room. Do not put them directly in front of it. * Place them in the coolest part of your home, like a basement.
It is important that your gerbils stay cool on hot days, though they do come from the desert they are underground in cool burrows during the hottest times of the day, and so do not do well in high temperatures. Overheating can kill your gerbil(s).
