I used to give phoenix crickets, he was a little hunter, I was hunting down crickets for days afterwards though. I am wondering, do you think they will get more into it if you give them crickets when they're younger? I have 3 girls now, I want to try crickets with them.

I have a pet cricket now... his name is Ricket. My boyfriend caught him at a gas station in California on his way back home (Washington). Ricket lives in out bathroom, with various feeder crickets that the frogs get. Ricket sings every night, and sometimes in the day time. =)

I have had bad experiences with crickets. They have given my gerbils fits, and therefore don't give crickets to them anymore.

REALLY??!?!? WOW! The closest fit that my gerbils have with them, is when one steals the cricket from another, then it's war! =)

my old gerbil, rocky, had a fit because he saw a squirrel run across the fence so i don't think he would've been able to take a cricket! lol ;D

RitzieAnn: Well, she didn't get any of the last cricket... Maybe that is why she had the fit?

Hey there,
I believe that grasshoppers are fine. I feed mine grasshoppers and they love them. My son likes to catch grasshoppers and hand feed them to the gerbils. As long as they are alive, I do not believe they have been subjected to pesticides.

yeah, and as long as you have a pretty good "idea" of where they came from, then it's good. Like I said earlier, there's 130 acres, and his grandpa is really big on the wild life habitat idea. He hays the fields, and that's it. You should see all bird and bat houses he just made.... lol
and my gerbils "fits" are when they're fighting over the cricket or grasshopper!
