Hey, I have noticed quite a few people about the forum ask about how to stop their gerbils burying the wheel under bedding, or ways to fix it up so that they can't do that. Here is one way that I did. You will need: 4 x Zip ties, the medium sized thin ones. Not the big fat ones. PC ones will do the trick and the thin gardening ones. but not the tiny ones 1 x wheel 5-10 minutes time Scissors - To trim the excess zip-tie 'tails' [edit by markpd. Wire cutters are better] I attached the wheel to the lid of the tank with 'zip-ties'. Now it worked with me on this tank as this tank the lid just 'lifts' off as opposed to the perfecto tanks where they 'slide' out. My wheel came from Aqua-pets (though I saw them today at Wyevales) and has a heavy weighted base, like so: I removed the base from the wheel and it leaves it just on like a normal wheel base. I took the lid of the tank, and then turned it upside down (so the gerbils roof was face up). Thread a zip-tie through the mesh roof, over the part of the wheel bar at the front and back through another slot so you have a loop and zip it through. Repeat the same thing 4 times and you should have something like this: Please ignore how wonky my wheel is attached I suck at DIY!Mine are un-trimmed at the moment, because I had the scissors and someone (my brother) took them before I finished. Then replace the lid right way up, and pop it into your tank, and you should have a very happy (and less easy to bury or knock over) wheel: Hope this helps x

Great idea SilverGerbil! It's always nice when you don't have enough floor space...just build up, or at the very top!

Millertime - Thankyou very much. Well my girls love it (it does look VERY close to the floor in that picture but bare in mind they have a 7inch in diamiter tube right underneat it so it does look like its hanging low but it is actuially a good 8inches off the floor . Jackhamershmal - I got the wheel from SeaPets, their is one in Colchester near me. I bought it i think for £6 so the price has gone up. www.seapets.co.uk/products/hamster-wheel-with-metal-mesh-large-size.htmlThough i saw them in Wyevales aswell for £10.50. x
