Please email me (rogerve@yahoo.com) your photos (one side view, one front view) of your self gerbils, including, black, nutmeg, slate, lilac, dove, sapphire, PEW, REW, RE Nutmeg (Saffron). Include your name, also your gerbil's name, sex and age. The side view must include full tail. The front view must include full whiskers. An excellent example from Shooting Star: Judging commences March 15, 2009. Good Luck everyone! (edit: If fewer than six gerbils are entered by the deadline the class will be held over to the following month).

This is not pup class, so pups younger than 12 weeks should not be entered (somebody correct me if I'm wrong!)

Hi! So far there are only two submissions. Let's give it another month, and see if we get a few more contestants!

Do siamese go into the self class? Or is there a colorpoint class?

sfmoneymarket-- If Piper is the same as the gerbil in your signature, she'll have to go in the Spotted or Pied class. The Self class is for unspotted gerbils only.
powerpuffgerbils-- Siamese go in the Colorpoint class.

Mongolian Gerbil Forum 2009 Self Class Virtual Show Results! I guess there was not a lot of interest in this class, or people were just really late in submitting their entries. So finally we have enough to post results! Marcia's Pop is a 14 mo. old Lilac male. He has an even, medium shade for Lilac, a coat colour in which we like to see very dark, cool almost blueish tones to avoid confusion with Sapphires. He has a tiny little dip in his back and looks like he could definitely be beefier for his age, so don't stint him on his treats. He has a nice open expression and oval eyes. His ears are a bit long, and I can't see the tip of his tail, unfortunately. He's definitely enjoying his treat. Eadaoin's Flick is a beautifully photographed 7 mo. old female Dove. Her colour is very even and pretty and is complemented by the blue background. She has an alert expression but her eyes seem a bit round. Great whiskers! Tail and tuft taper unfortunately and her coat shows up a bit rough. She also seems very small. With some really good feeding and grooming she could do much better next year. Candemat's Brutus is a four month old Black male with a very sleek and shiny coat. He is very light in build for a male, probably due to his age, and I'm sure he'll bulk up with age. He does have a quantity of white on his front paws and chin unfortunately, as a good show quality black should have as little white as possible. His eyes also are a bit too round, and his ears seem a bit big for him...maybe he'll grow into them a bit more. He has wonderful whiskers! Tail a bit thin but there's definite potential there in the tuft. Third Placement: Naomi's Diesel, a 4 month old Slate male, is a very unusual light shade for a Slate. I checked with Naomi and she avers he is indeed a Slate not a Colourpoint Slate, say. If so, it may be that he is carrying a brand new gene coming out that dilutes Slate to a more azure hue, some of these have been found and bred in Colorado. Diesel's build is impressively heavy for a 4 month old, and he has good ears and whiskers though the photography is blurry. His eyes appear a bit round but I can see a considerable tuft on his tail! Second Placement: Eadaoin's Stolenkiss Uramali is a 14 month old Black male with a very good compact, masculine build and beautiful coat condition. His fur just shines with health! He does have a bit of white on his fingers which is not optimal for showing. His eyes and ears have great shape and his whiskers are full. He has a great tail with a good tuft. First Placement: Kat's Sam, a 6 month old Slate male is a very cool, deep gray shade with very little of the brownish overtones sometimes seen in Slates. He has beautiful ears, eyes and long whiskers. His build is compact and bulky, very good for as young a male as he is. His coat condition is excellent, his tail is thick, long and full culminating in a good tuft. Excellent little boy very well photographed. Congratulations everyone!
