Just because people love their animals, it doesn't mean they treat them right. But hey, that's just my opinion too.

Well, a 12.5 gallon tank is plenty for 2 gerbils. I have 3 gerbils in a 10 gallon and they love it and are fine the way they are.

As soon as possible I'll post some recent pictures so that everyone can see how is the bin "decorated" now karlyrat you're right when you say that people loving their pets does not mean they treat them right, but I don't really think I don't treat my gerbils as they deserve and need.

Just because people love their animals, it doesn't mean they treat them right. But hey, that's just my opinion too. That is true! And you might have your opinion here! Only try to be a bit more diplomatic in the future. About the sizes of the tanks, people have different views, and my opinion can be read in a previous post.

I think it's a relatively good setup, but I think you should try to utilize the height of the bin. I suggest raising the water bottle, perhaps getting a straight-spotted bottle and sticking the spout through the wire. Then, give them some cardboard and atleast four inches of litter. You could also had shelves made of safe wood, and either make them so that they stand up themselves, or silicone them with aquarium silicone, into the tank. If you want a more natural look, flat slabs of shale or special reptile shelf rocks can be used. I think that it is the basis for an excellent cage, but it needs a few adjustments. Good work!
