Someone suggested to me that gerbils realing love having a deep bedding in their aquarium so I have filled mine about half full. They really love it are building loads of tunnels all over the place, is so cool to watch. The only problem is I can't control where they are gonna kick up their bedding. they have completely buried their food bowl and sometimes they kick it up as high as their water bottle. I don't really want ot deprive them of the fun they seem to be having but dont know how to overcome my problem. Any advice TEXT

ha. I love watching them make tunnels. It sometimes entertains me more then television.
It's not really a problem though. Just put your water bottle up as high as you can. If the bedding goes up to it, don't worry about it..they know where it is and will drink when they want.. Same with the food. They won't starve themselves just to dig..
They have dishes that can stick to the side of the tank and unclip if you really want to use a dish. They will bury their food even if you have a thin layer of bedding..they just like their food burried. You don't even need a dish, could just throw some food in every couple of days.

Thanks for that I thought it was ok, just wanted to make sure. Have now given up on the idea of the food bowl and will just throw food in there.
God I have decided I spend far too much time watching these things. They are just so fascinating though. It amazes me that they can awake from a deep sleep and suddendly start digging away and completely re-arranging their cage with a look of determination in their eyes. You know i have been thinking that i need some of what they are taking because i certaininly dont have that get up and go inh the morning.
Thanks again Hayley
